Alfred MeakinAlfred Meakin's history can be traced back to 1875 when it was founded by Alfred Meakin himself. Trading began from the Royal Albert, Victoria and Highgate Potteries in Tunstall where they enjoyed many very early successes. Alfred Meakin passed away in 1904, and his son and successor, Alfred James, in 1908. Robert Johnson, Alfred John's uncle, purchased the company for his own son Stuart. Stuart relocated the works to Newfield Pottery in 1930. The business stayed in the ownership of the family until 1976 when it became Myott-Meakin, who in turn became part of the Churchill Group.
