This is a pyrex storage jar for sugar decorated in the Eternal Beau style by Johnson Brothers. This piece is unfortunately missing it's lid so is sold as a spare base.

Eternal Beau is a readily recognised shape (octagonal plates, bowls and saucers) and the pattern was sold in enormous quantities, and although production has ceased, the popularity seems to go on and on.

Never be caught out by not having enough pieces again. Buy extras or replacements while they are still available.
