NoritakeThe Noritake story began in 1876 when Ichizaemon Morimura set up an export trading company shipping from Tokyo to New York. In the beginning they traded giftware items and some chinaware, but in 1904 Ichizaemon visited the World's Fair in Paris which inspired him to open a factory (in the village of Noritake, nr Nagoya, Japan), to produce their own goods. In 1914 the first tableware suitable for export was created. Since then they have produced thousands of tableware designs, many of which were made for export to the US, but some made it to Europe.
